Gather their story privately
Every memorial starts as a private draft. Add the biography, birth and passing dates, obituary and service details at your own pace. Nothing is visible to anyone until you choose to publish.
How it works
Afterword turns a small engraved square into a doorway — one that opens a whole life on the phone already in your hand.
Four unhurried steps
Every memorial starts as a private draft. Add the biography, birth and passing dates, obituary and service details at your own pace. Nothing is visible to anyone until you choose to publish.
Upload a cover image and portrait, build the photo and video galleries, record important life milestones, and invite family to add their messages.
Afterword creates a separate QR record for every product — a cemetery plaque, funeral programs, memorial cards, a keychain, a pendant, apparel. Each record knows exactly which memorial it belongs to.
Publishing gives the memorial a permanent address like afterwordlegacy.com/memorial/john-smith. Guests scan the QR or tap a share link and arrive instantly on their phone.
How the QR architecture works
The memorial
One permanent page and URL per person
The QR records
A separate record per product, with its own ID and status
The scan
Routes to the right memorial, and logs the visit
Because every QR code points through Afterword rather than at a fixed page, a memorial can be moved, renamed or re-linked without replacing a plaque you already engraved.
Draft memorials, uploaded media and unapproved tributes stay invisible to the public. The family owner decides what appears and when.
Also supported
A general Afterword marketing QR code — used on brochures, partner displays and signage — routes visitors to the Afterword homepage rather than an individual memorial.
